The Bridge Institute

The Bridge Institute

The bridge Institute exists to train, equip, and launch leaders.
We believe God has uniquely positioned The Bridge for this task.

Ruston is a revolving door and a sending community. Proximity to Louisiana Tech and Grambling enlarges the potential "footprint" of The Bridge beyond that of a typical small town church. The Bridge Institute desires to equip residents for every good work in a variety of ministry contexts.

Head, Heart, and Hands

We are committed to the process of holistic growth — head, heart, and hands —stimulating the mind, developing character, and applying these principles to life.

HEAD
What do Christians believe? Why do they believe it?  Residents are trained to become "self-feeders" of God's Word, learning to observe, interpret, and apply the Bible for themselves within a community of believers. Residents participate in theological education and are eligible to receive up to 18 credit hours through three partner seminaries.
HEART
More than giving information, The Bridge Institute invests in the personal transformation of residents. Participants are led through personal discovery, decision-making, discerning their calling, leadership, mentorship, community, and accountability.
HANDS
Residents are placed in a specific ministry context that aligns with their gifting and goals. Serving in ministry with meaningful roles and responsibilities through The Bridge and our partners, participants work with their supervisors for hands-on training and resume building that prepares them for a life of healthy ministry.

The Bridge Institute offers two tracks:

residency

Our residency program is a one- or two-year, full time (40+ hours a week) development program. Time each week is spent between theological training, character development, and hands-on work. Each resident’s salary is raised through support before their year with The Institute.

internship

Our internship program is a nine-month, part-time development program requiring 10-15 hours a week. Interns receive theological training while serving within a specific ministry at The Bridge. Interns also  attend workshops alongside residents, meet with a supervisor, and practice regular accountability within a peer group. Interns' schedules are flexible and will be built around school or work. The internship can be a great stepping stone into the residency! Interns will receive a small stipend and do not raise support.

Important Information

support raising

Residents at The Bridge partner with Reliant, a leading non-profit fundraising organization for support raising, coaching, accountability,  payroll, and benefits. This means that while residents are part of the staff at The Bridge, they are  employed by Reliant.

Reliant also provides training to help residents gain the knowledge and skills necessary to raise financial support. The Reliant team works with residents to build support-raising  goals and prepare them for employment.
